Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the human body with 99% of it stored in the bones and teeth. Beyond skeletal structure calcium impacts multiple systems including the cardiovascular, nervous system, immune response, hormone and enzyme function and healthy cholesterol levels.
44-87% of the U.S. populace are deficient in calcium. Using the steroid Prednisone leaches calcium from the bones, which greatly increases calcium requirements.
So the question is, what form of calcium is best? Frequently, people complain that they have tried supplementing with calcium or other nutrients and noticed no benefit. In the past, I had the same experience. What I found out was that it wasn’t that the compound didn’t work. The problem was that my body could not extract the benefits of the compound due to the form it was delivered in.
That is why isotonic absorption is so significant.
Many calcium supplements are made from calcium found in eggshell or oyster shell, which is difficult for the body to absorb. Other brands use calcium tablets that possess a binding agent called DCP, which does not break down in the body. Just because a brand lists a large amount of calcium on the label does not mean that your body will be able to utilize it.
Isotonix® Calcium Plus delivers results because it is isotonic.
Isotonix® Calcium Plus is a powdered form that, when mixed with the amount of water indicated, becomes isotonic. An isotonic solution is extremely easy for the body to absorb and will begin entering into the blood stream in less than five minutes. This highly efficient and active product will get to the receptor sites in the small intestine unlike many other brands of tablets which have been jokingly referred to as “bedpan bullets“.
Benefits that distinguish Isotonix® Calcium Plus are:
It’s isotonic – (is ready to be absorbed by the intestines)
It’s very affordable – ($18.50 for a 45 day supply)
It’s drinkable – (and tastes good)
It’s bioavailable – (delivers highly concentrated and active nutrition)
Results always speak for themselves. Here are a few comments on Isotonix® Calcium Plus:

I’ve tried various types of daily calcium products. This is far and away the easiest to use and it tastes good too. I’ve found that I really notice a difference in how I feel when I use the product and after just one month. I will buy it every month from now on.

I really like this product- it is a thousand times better than the calcium “horse pills” that you buy at the store. This powder is easy to take, and you can take just half a dose if you are drinking a lot of milk or use milk products. I would recommend it to any woman.

In two of my previous articles, I spoke of OA and cholesterol, two major ills affecting much of the population. But I have not spoken of diabetes, which appears, as you know, when you have a high sugar in the blood. It also affects many individuals and can have unpleasant consequences, especially since it is difficult to control especially for food lovers who find it difficult to do without sweets, among others.
To see if you have diabetes, just do a blood test and to check your blood sugar. If too high, you have diabetes.
Beware, there are two types of diabetes:
- Juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent (or Type I diabetes): it concerns the people, especially young people, who have a pancreas that does not produce enough insulin. They are therefore forced to inject insulin. The latter is a hormone produced by the pancreas that controls how cells of your body convert sugar into energy that you swallow.
- Diabetes mellitus or fat or non-insulin dependent (or Type II diabetes): it concerns individuals who, due to poor diet (too much sugar and too fat) have a pancreas that malfunction. Here, it is not necessary to inject insulin.
Neither diabetes should be taken lightly. To see if you have, there are some warning signs that can alert you: blurred vision, excessive thirst, a difficulty for your little injuries heal, an urge to urinate frequently, fatigue, tingling sensation .
If symptoms develop, see your doctor immediately because the consequences can be severe: cardiovascular disease, severe vision and kidney damage, nerve damage.
If you are prone to these types of diabetes, do not overlook above and do everything to try to minimize. Ideally, of course, is to act on prevention and do whatever it takes to not have diabetes. But in any case, I repeat, see your doctor who will advise appropriate treatment, tailored to your specific situation.
Here, however, some things you can do (after taking advice from your doctor):
Above all, one of the things to do when you have diabetes is to watch your feet. Do not laugh, it’s very very important. Indeed, diabetes decreases at you the sensation of pain and therefore you can easily hurt you, you scratch without you realizing it. This infection, minimal initially, can worsen rapidly and lead to gangrene, which leads, in turn, amputation of toes or foot. This is not so rare that one of my neighbors had to be amputated one of his feet.
So to avoid coming to these extremes, wash your feet daily, dry them properly; watch them morning and evening and treat any cuts, the lower bulb.
After the feet, teeth, you must be monitored regularly by your dentist because diabetics have brittle teeth. Brush them thoroughly and regularly, three times a day is ideal.
Changing some of your eating habits can sometimes be enough to lower your diabetes.
- If you’re overweight, the first thing to do is try to lose weight by eating less sugar and less fat and more fiber (contained in cereals, fruits such as grapes) and vegetables green (like broccoli, and watercress). These slow the time it takes for glucose to enter your body.
- Eat lots of fish because they are rich in omega 3 and less meat.
- Use and abuse of spices like cinnamon, cloves and turmeric. In contrast, significantly decrease your intake of salt.
- Drink plenty. The water and the decoction of burdock and olive leaf, remove the excess sugar in your blood for diabetes mellitus. Some vegetable juice, as juice of raw potato juice or watercress can help you lower your blood sugar, as the infusion of blueberry leaves.
- Avoid eating too much sugar, too much fat in order to minimize your bad cholesterol, thus increasing both the risk of contracting cardiovascular disease.
This new diet may be accompanied by a sport rather small exercises reasonable walking type, qi gong and swimming. In practice only after talking to your doctor because your diabetes may well forbid you to do such exercises.
That is, generally, in 90% of cases, a change in your eating habits, in consultation with your physician, can help stabilize and reduce your diabetes. The key is to take it very seriously because you will bite your fingers if, ultimately, you become blind or if you amputate, just because you continued to be negligent, if you say “the doctor gave me some pills so I can eat whatever I want “-
The vigilance and regular consultation with your doctor are the only ways to reduce your diabetes.

Like OMG kid! As promised here is my recollection of the open mic from last night. I keep my promises even when I’m extremely hungover, which I am not.
On the myspace for Doyle’s Corner it listed the open mic as “Thursday at 9pm”. If you’ve ever been to an open mic you’re probably familiar with the signup sheet that comes out about 30 minutes before the actual open mic. Being the punctual musicians that we are we showed up at 8:30pm with the expectation that there would be a signup sheet out or at least some other performers. We walked in on three or four beer guzzlers and the bartender. We looked around for a second to see if perhaps there were some open mic gnomes hidden amongst the pool table and videogames. Nothing. I approached the bartender with a simple “Hi, do you know if the open mic is going on tonight?” or something even more eloquent. “Yeah. The guy usually shows up around 9:30 or 10.” I said the obligatory “Thanks!” and as we were leaving he said, “So you guys will be by later?” and then I was all like “Yup.” and he was all like and then she was all like “Wha’?!”
We were as out of place as this dead horseshoe crab in Boston Common.
We walked around the area for a while killing time. We stopped in the nearby Starbucks to see if anyone I knew was working. They weren’t. Then we killed some time in a sad looking video store that still sold some good old VHS. They didn’t have any of the four movies that I’m looking for on VHS so we just did some knitting in the adult section. Not really…yet. We looked in Doyle’s again since we were expecting some friends to come out and play. Nothing. Then we got really adventurous and sat in the car just talking about our feelings and what not. There were a lot of revelations. Around 9:30pm we went in after I got a text from a friend who was inside and sat around chatting like some real Chatty Cathys. Besides our friend we were the only other people with instruments among the growing number of frat boys. Finally around 10pm an older gentlemen(not to be confused with old guy) came in and started setting up the PA. He then began what wound up being about a 30 minute set of originals and maybe a cover thrown in there. It was hard to distinguish the acoustic blues originals from the acoustic blues covers. My ear isn’t that good. After this he announced, “If anyone wants to sit in just let me know.” Now where I’m from, the Maldives, to “sit it” means to “jam” or play with other people that you have probably never played with before. Our friend spoke up first and the acoustic blues older gentlemen left the stage(there was no stage). He played some sweet tunes and my bandmate/friend talked to ABOG briefly about our obnoxious setup.
Another professional shot. Here's the host melting our faces and hearts.
A big part of the reason we were going play to this open mic was to test run some stuff that we’re preparing for a show later this month. We’re both in another group, which is our “main band” or “mand” and this new band/side project is quite a departure from our usual hard rawkin’ technical muzak. What makes it even more convoluted is that the only difference in terms of members is that the new project has the same two out of three members except instead of a drummer the new project has a computer. Did that make any sense? Eh.
Like I was saying, we went up to play and setting up the computer and all the technical stuff took a couple of minutes so I won over the crowd by repeatedly saying “Computer.” and breathing heavily into the microphone. Once we got going everything went fairly smoothly except for the host turning our backing track volume way down during the middle of a song only for some other guy turn it right back up. Weird. They asked us to play another song after our two hit singles. We were prepared to drop another music bomb on everyone sans computer and did in fact drop that bomb, which brought about the end of the open mic. Afterwards, we did all the handshaking stuff and were invited to come back and have our own show there. The prospect of being able to have a show there was a nice bonus and we connected with a local promoter who wants to “work with us” or whatevers. We walked out feeling a lot more confident about our upcoming first show with the new project.
I’m sure we’ll be spending some more time there. It wasn’t the most ideal place to play music but there was a built in audience and not a lot of competition considering only three acts played. It’s definitely worth checking out especially if you like your open mics like I like my mail couriers: loose and cheap. I’ll shut up now.
